Wyldheart Demo Saves: Online, Offline & Carryover

The current demo relies on online saves, including solo play. Offline sessions do not save progress: exiting loses that session’s progress. The team also says demo saves will not transfer to the game at launch.

Solo and offline are different choices

Playing alone describes who is in the party. Playing offline describes how the session connects to services. A solo campaign can still depend on the servers because the demo uses online saves.

The October 9 hotfix announcement explicitly connects server overload with problems for solo players. If your solo campaign cannot load, check the service status before concluding that the save has disappeared.

What happens when you exit an offline session?

The hotfix warning is explicit: progress made with saving disabled is lost on exit. Offline mode can let you sample gameplay during connectivity trouble, but it is unsuitable for a campaign you intend to continue later.

A successful launch in offline mode is not evidence that saving has recovered. Before committing to a long session, check the mode shown by the current menu and read its saving indication. This guide does not claim an autosave interval, a manual-save key or a recoverable local backup.

Will a demo campaign carry over?

The developer-team FAQ says the demo’s save data will not be compatible with the game when it launches because development changes are ongoing. Treat this campaign as a demo run rather than preparation for a transferable endgame character.

Progress and shared XP are separate

The FAQ says XP is shared with players present in the demo session; players who are offline do not receive it. Do not use the broader store description of asynchronous shared progression as a guarantee for this demo.

If your group wants to progress together, decide who will be present before the session and make sure online services are available. Questions about joining belong in the multiplayer guide; this page focuses on persistence.

If expected progress is missing

Record whether you were playing with saving disabled, which campaign you used, and the build. If online saving was enabled, report the discrepancy to the official team with the session context. There is no confirmed restoration procedure in the sources cited here.
