Wyldheart: How to Equip Spells

Unlock the spell, equip its required Grimoire alongside your magic weapon, then close the menu and hold T to open the skill wheel. Bind the spell to the key you want to use.

Reviewed · Demo 0.7.2; official notes through October 9, 2026

Equip a spell in four steps

  1. Learn the ability. Spend skill points in the magic skill tree to unlock the spell you want.
  2. Meet its equipment requirement. Have the required Grimoire equipped; the team describes using spell books alongside a magic weapon.
  3. Leave the menu and hold T. Open the skill wheel while you are back in gameplay. The FAQ specifies holding T, rather than pressing it inside the skill menu.
  4. Assign the ability. Bind your chosen skill or spell to the desired key in the wheel. Use the binding shown in your own setup.

Learning, equipping and binding are different

Buying a skill makes it available to your character. A Grimoire satisfies the magic equipment requirement. Binding gives the ability a key you can use. Completing only the first of these does not finish the setup.

If you have learned a spell but cannot assign it, check its equipment requirement before spending more points. The developer FAQ does not give a universal Grimoire drop location, so this guide does not send you to a particular chest.

If your spell still does not appear

  1. Check the selected skill. Confirm that the ability is unlocked rather than merely visible in the tree.
  2. Check the Grimoire. Read the requirement for that specific spell. Possessing a book and equipping the required book are separate checks.
  3. Try the wheel during gameplay. Close the inventory or skill menu before holding T.
  4. Check your controls. The published T instruction is for mouse and keyboard. If you use different bindings or a controller, consult the in-game control settings.

Which magic is in the demo?

The October 8 announcement names the Paths of Blight, Pyre, Rime and Storm. Your skill choices shape the build; you do not need to select a fixed Mage class.

These instructions cover assigning an unlocked ability. They do not establish spell costs, damage values, casting animations or where a particular Grimoire spawns. For a persistent equipment or wheel problem, include the spell name and demo build in a report to the official community.
