Wyldheart Trading: Split Stacks and Free a Slot

If a stack will not enter the trade container, free at least one slot first. If you placed the wrong quantity, move the whole stack back to your backpack or the vendor, then right-click to choose how many to place.

Choose the workaround for your trade problem

The official known-issues page lists two different trade-container problems. WYL-666 concerns adding more of a stackable item when the destination has no empty slot. WYL-267 concerns splitting quantities from Buy and Sell slots after a mistake. These workarounds were checked October 11, 2026.

WYL-666: make an empty trade slot

  1. Check the destination container. The published workaround requires at least one empty slot in the trade container, even when you are moving more of an item that already stacks.
  2. Move one item out. Free a slot before trying the stacked item again. This follows the official workaround rather than a claim about intended inventory capacity.
  3. Retry the transfer. If it still fails after freeing a slot, record the item, destination and demo build for a support report. The known-issues list may change after a patch.

WYL-267: correct a Buy or Sell quantity

  1. Undo the misplaced stack. Move the entire stack back to your backpack or to the vendor, as appropriate for that side of the trade.
  2. Use right-click for placement. Instead of single-clicking, right-click to open the placement dialogue.
  3. Choose the quantity. Select how many items to place in that dialogue. The source gives this workaround for the trade slots; it does not establish a universal keyboard shortcut for every inventory screen.

What this fixes—and what needs separate help

These instructions concern moving stacked items during trading. They do not describe a crafting recipe, guarantee a better barter price or establish how vendor satisfaction is calculated. Keep a quantity mistake separate from the negotiation itself.

An October 10 player report describes awkward stack transfers and an unclear trading interface. That report establishes a player problem, while the official WYL-666 and WYL-267 entries supply the actions above. The suggested Ctrl-click shortcut in the player feedback is a request, not a confirmed control.

If the workaround stops matching your build

Check the official live issue list before retrying after an update. These entries are workarounds reviewed against the 0.7.2-era list, not claims that the defects will remain forever.

For a repeatable failure, note whether the problem affects Buy or Sell, whether an empty slot exists, the item quantity and your installed build. The official Steam community provides the developer support and discussion links.
